Tamworth Classic Fire Engine Museum

Four years ago while visiting Tamworth I dropped into a group of volunteers teaching the public the role of the fire brigade . A shed with one appliance and an enthusiastic group of Retired Fire Fighters who made me feel most welcome when I visited they were certainly a dedicated group of volunteers. Late December 2025 I returned to Tamworth and again visited what is now a very very good and interesting display in a larger building now called Classic Fire Engine Museum. I was amazed at the hard work they have put in to showcase NSW Fire Brigade history and the vehicles and equipment we used. Today they have nine working vehicles and one being repaired. It's not just the appliances, the incredible amount of memorabilia they have collected will need 10 showcases just to display it in . A fantastic amount of dedication and enthusiasm by all firefighters has been recognized by Tamworth Council offering them land for a museum. They deserve the support as they continue to serve Tamworth and surrounding country areas showcasing our role in NSW . Alan Hitchell
